Does Every ACL Tear Need Surgery? Orthopedic, Surgery, Pain, Trauma, ACL, Fracture, Tear, Jaipur
🦵 Does Every ACL Tear Need Surgery?
Not every ACL tear automatically requires surgery. The right treatment depends on several factors, including the type of tear, knee stability, associated injuries, activity level, and your individual goals.
🔹 Partial ACL tear — Some patients may do well with structured physiotherapy and rehabilitation if the knee remains stable.
🔹 Complete ACL tear — Surgery may be considered when there is significant instability, associated meniscus or ligament injury, or a need to return to pivoting sports and demanding activities.
🔹 Rehabilitation matters — Whether treatment is surgical or non-surgical, restoring knee movement, strength, balance and stability is an important part of recovery.
⚠️ An ACL tear should be evaluated individually. An orthopedic examination, and when appropriate MRI, can help determine the extent of injury and treatment options.
ACL tear ≠ automatic surgery.
The goal is a stable, functional knee and a treatment plan suited to the individual patient.
